Where did Vollebak originate from?
Vollebak originated from an idea conceived by twin brothers Nick and Steve Tidball while running through the Amazon, Alps, and Namib desert. During their extreme endurance runs, they wondered if the clothes they were wearing could do more to help them survive by helping them sleep, relax, light up at night, or keep them alive.
What materials does Vollebak use?
Vollebak works with the most advanced materials in the world. Some of these materials started their life at NASA, while others originated in nature. The company uses materials like copper, graphene, Dyneema, carbon fiber, electromagnetic shielding materials, and combines them with traditional techniques like Japanese sashiko stitching.
What is the Vollebak Spaceshop?
The Vollebak Spaceshop is a prototype craft described as part spaceship and part shop that offers a glimpse into a future of interplanetary kit deliveries between Earth, the Moon and Mars. It was designed and built with help from SAGA Space Architects and Bang & Olufsen, and launched in Copenhagen in June 2025.
How has Vollebak been recognized?
Vollebak has won TIME Best Inventions award twice and WIRED Gear of the Year twice. The Full Metal Jacket, built from 11 kilometers of copper, is a TIME Best Inventions winner.
